Indoor climbing - auto-start no longer works

Hi,

with the latest update the auto-start detection seems to have been removed from the indoor climbing activity.

I do not want to enter the route level and details every time I want to climb a route so the auto-start was a nice way to keep track of the number of routes you climbed during a session.

Does anyone else also has this issue or am I just missing something here? (the option is also no longer available in the indoor climbing activity while it is still there in the hiking activity...)

I set each climb manually to enter the grade so haven't noticed what you're describing but I did notice the climb doesn't auto-end (when it detects a full descent back to the ground) and it isn't recording the altimeter data so I don't get the height climbed for each route or total ascent. I thought a sensor had malfunctioned so reset my watch and was going to test it when I next climb (tomorrow) but maybe the latest update has disabled the altimeter for climbing so possibly a bug?

My friend tracks in the way you like to, and she was able to recalibrate her altimeter with help from Garmin support.

I am missing the auto-end function as well. I wonder if this is also the altimeter needed to be recalibrated with the last update

Seemed ok today when rope climbing, haven't checked but the auto-stop function was working and I could see altitude was increasing with each climb so seems it was a glitch.

My watch quit tracking indoor climbing routes last week. Tried updating and that didn’t help. Trying the turn off and on protocol, I’ll let you know if that works

Auto start was problematic (just see many post about that). For me it was pain, as climb would autostart randomly when belaying, standing or walking in the gym. So I would be glad to remove it (or make it optionally).

But currently the climbing is broken for me. Even if I start climb, there is no detection whatsoever, no height meters, no auto-end. It's just recording grade you enter and cardio.

I have the same problem: Auto start/stop work. I can't manually start a climb. No altitude information recorded. No climbs recorded.

Mine is fine now after doing calibration for the altimeter with GPS and restarting the watch. My wife's Fenix 7 pro had the same issue today and she did the same and hers is working fine again too. Hopefully it's just a one off for each watch.

I have the same issue on the Fenix 7. The auto climb setting disappeared from the Indoor Climbing activity settings
