Epix Pro Gen 2 sleep tracking

Hello all! So I've had my epix pro gen 2 for a year now and wear it all the time. I've never had great sleep tracking with it but everything else seemed to work fine. I always felt fine when I woke up in the morning so I just brushed it off. I had some FSA funds that I needed to spend so I decided last month to buy an or ring and now I've been using that for a month to track my sleep along with my watch. And I know that the watch isn't the greatest thing to track sleep with and that the ring  is more accurate  on that front. So while or it says my sleep score is 90 my Garmin says my sleep score is 45. Before I had my Garmin I used to wear a Samsung Galaxy watch Pro. So I had that watch sitting around and Samsung had a really good deal with a trade in so I ended up trading  in the watch and I got the Samsung Galaxy watch Ultra for a little over 100 bucks. So for the past couple weeks I've been wearing my Epix, Galaxy watch Ultra and Oura ring to bed. So after a few weeks I just don't understand what is going on with the Garmin and if I should just reset thee watch or what. My Garmin consistently gives me half the sleeping score of what the ring or the other watch does. I've tried using a silicone band, a nylon band and the titanium band all Garmin bands and none of them seem to make a difference. The watch is snug on my wrist and I've even tried moving it to other wrist and there's no change in a crappy sleep score. I know if i reset i lose all the metrics right? I'm just wondering if maybe my watch has a bug that's making it so horrible.

  • I've worn my Epix Pro, Oura Ring 3 and Ringconn Gen 1 24x7 for the past 18 months or longer.

In general I would say that the trend is for Garmin to mark me down lower than the others, but often there is not much in it. Last night my sleep was solid (when I was asleep), but I did have a very lengthy gap in my sleep when I was fiddling with my phone. Scores on the doors....

    Garmin - 75, Total sleep 7:31

    Oura - 77, Total sleep 6:12

    Ringconn - 88, Total sleep 7:50

But I really take all this sleep stuff with a pinch of salt and pretty much have given up even glancing at sleep metrics. It is clear that none of them are foolproof for sleep analysis - sometimes they agree, sometimes they don't, but which is correct (or least wrong) - so I don't see much point wasting my time reviewing data that is generally of questionable accuracy or value.

I'm more interested in stress/recovery/body battery, HRV, training readiness and recommended training from my watch. I sync the ring data, but pretty much pay no attention to any of it. I have no plans to buy any more rings. I don't feel the need to drown in a ton of conflicting data details when the headline figures are all that can be trusted (or can they?).

  • Last update 19.41 broke again sleep tracking! I hate that behaviour of garmin, samsung watch was more better and never been missed. That's not first time. Question, how can I stap back before one firmware update, was much better!

  • See yours is way closer....my epix last night said Sleep score 72 with 8:05, Oura sleep score 90  with 8:09 and Samsung Ultra Sleep score 90 with Sleep time 8:08. All same time but Garmin is significantly lower so that's why I'm wondering if there is a bad file or something on my Garmin and if a factory reset would help becaus3 then I have to wonder if other metrics ar e messed up as well.
