For how long its safe to bring the Epix into the sauna?

Hi,

I have an Epix Pro (Gen 2) and I read several posts about bringing the watch into the sauna... but with contradictory information (some of them say it can be brought and others say no, it cannot).

I’m concerned not because a one-time session, but in the long time (once or twice a week for several weeks... 15 minutes each session) because even if the temperature is not damaging the human body, could it be possible that the temperature damages the watch waterproof seals, battery, button response, etc?

I don't want to make a controversy topic here... but any advice will be much appreciated.

I think a better question would be: what is the benefit of bringing your Garmin into the sauna? Unless you want to see your HR spike just out of curiosity... and risk damaging the seals + battery... then…

Any kind of unnecessary heat stresses the battery and can lead to long-term damage.

It is recommended to remove your Garmin watch before entering a sauna or hot tub as these environments can expose your watch to high heat and moisture that may be outside of its operating specifications. For more information about your Garmin watch's specifications, refer to your owner's manual.

What kind of sauna? Infrared? I wear mine in an infrared sauna at about 155 for around 35 minutes per day with no issues. A regular steam sauna at 200 may be different.

I think a better question would be: what is the benefit of bringing your Garmin into the sauna? Unless you want to see your HR spike just out of curiosity... and risk damaging the seals + battery... then I think it's worth the hassle of taking the watch out before each session.

Now, to answer the original question: Garmin says it's safe for 0 minutes, so better stick with that.
