Battery only charging to 89%

My Epix gen 2 is no longer charging to 100%. A month or so ago, it seemed like sometimes it would charge to 100% and sometimes only to 89%. Now, starting about a couple weeks ago, the watch will only charge to 89%, no matter how long I leave it plugged in. Two days ago, it started only charging to 88%. What is going on here?

I have had the watch for almost 2 years (got it Christmas 2022). It's on software version 19.34. I know I've had 2 or 3 updates since this started happening, but I didn't track the behavior closely with that.

The first thing I would try is what Garmin call a hard reset: Hold the upper left Light button down until the watch shuts off. Then restart the watch.

If you sync with Garmin Connect before you perform the reset, you will not lose any data or settings.

The reset does a good job of getting everything back to working as it should.

Hello, I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. For this, I would recommend trying some additional steps to resolve this.

Ensure the watch is on the latest SW version using Garmin Express.
Allow the watch battery to drain to 0. Then try charging this again to 100%. Since this will be draining entirely, it may take longer than normal to begin to show charge.
If there is no change, I would recommend trying a full factory reset, using these steps:

Ensure the watch is powered off.
- You may need to hold LIGHTfor up to 30 seconds to turn the watch off.
Press and hold BACK and START/STOP.
Press LIGHT to power the watch on while holding these two buttons.
After the first beep release START/STOP.
After the second beep release the remaining button.

If this issue continues, I would recommend contacting Garmin Product Support.

So, three days ago, the watch charged to 100%! I did not do anything different. The next day, it charged to 95% - on that day, I really might not have let it be plugged in long enough to get to 100%. I verified that the watch was still on v19.34.

The next day, the watch updated to v19.38. After that, it stops at 89% again.

Do you know how long it's going to take for me to get down to 0%? LOL. And what a pain in the neck to do a factory reset and lose all my settings. I will have to decide if that is all worth it.

Just put AO, O2 and start a run inside home and let the (getting) gps do the trick.
Regarding settings loss, you can backup and restore. You do get (almost) everything back.

Since the watch updated to v19.38, it charged to 100% for a couple of days, and then yesterday it only charged to 89% again. Bizarre. I will look into some of the suggestions when I have the time.
