Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 fails to detect my wake time

I recently got a Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 (42mm). And I am very confused at its sleep monitoring methods.

  1. What I want -->  it records me sleep-wake time, and the heart rate during sleep, and get's statistics based on that.

  2. what are my settings -->  everything is set to default values sleep schedule is set from 1 am to 9 am, an alarm is set at 8 am

  3. what it does --> first of all it is inconsistent in whatever it does, usually it records the right time of when i slept, but it has huge issues of knowing when i wake up. For eg if i wake up at 9:30 am, it says i woke up at 9 am (because I set that?) then i shift the scheduled wake time to 10 am to keep longer than my any expected wake time, then sometimes when i am awake at 9, and well moving around (even biking), the watch still thinks i am sleeping. (by the way how do i manually end that sleep mode from the watch?) and sometimes it just takes my alarm time (8am) as my waking time irrespective of whether i woke up before or after it.

  • Forget about it, the Epix Pro Gen 2 is incredibly bad in sleep detection and I have given up any hope that they will fix it.

Garmin just doesn't care of it's customers, sorry, but that's my experience. Don't expect anything  from them anymore.

  • I am a bit surprised, I thought about this decision a lot; whether to go for a smartwatch like apple watches or a Garmin. I went for Garmin thinking that it is a true fitness watch; but now I realise if doesn't do the health related things right, what's the point, it's not like I am asking for phone calls on my watch.
