Just watched a review on the Fenix 8 and love the new UI style. Will the Epix pro get an update to that UI style?

At this time, there have been no announcements around releasing the User Interface to previous watch models. So it is likely this is not something that is going to occur.
It's quite simple... if garmin wont update at least the last gen hardware with new ui... well there are other companies with great functions and customer support and software updates for years ;p
And wasn't it the case in the past that at launch the epix pro 2 watch had a few features that were exclusive only to that model, and after six months Garmin released those extra features on older watches…
i agree ... changes to UI are not so hard to retrofit and epix 2 (pro) should get at least 1-2 major updates since they were not cheap.
Exactly, because SoC and most of components are the same since years and confirmed with Fenix 8 series, Garmin should provide ONE Operating System for all device. And like Apple and others, limit the features available to older/not capable devices
This will help them for support, ease of development. We are tired of garbage software.
F8 already received more than 6 system version in a month, for it's month launch !!!
If they have one Soc/platform for all high end devices, that would be much easier to make a single code base with defined options for devices. I believe that they are not upgrading the epix and older fenix is because they think that new UI is a killer app. Obviously not, the epix pro and fenix 7 are excellent sport watches, I really like them, and at 800e the item, I will not spend my time upgrading for only cosmetics...
It's just a pity that garmin operates like that. I think it cost them money (because of the line-up fragmentation) and customers (which at the end is the same).
It is not even about the candy faces or the UI style - it is the UI optimizations that make the UX significantly better on Fenix 8 as compared to say Epix 2 (which is an expensive watch and performs subpar on the UI from with very laggy animations and sub-premium feel for a premium watch). These watches do not differ significantly in terms of price or hardware but the experience is noticeably better on Fenix 8 (again no justification for that discrepancy). At the very least Garmin should optimize software for older models to bring at least the performance improvements to the previous gen (with a caveat) top end watches.
And Garmin continue to support watches for a long while after release.
Not true for all watches. Some are abandoned a year or so after release (Venu, Vivoactive, etc.). Even Instinct 2 and 2x seem to be abandoned for proper software maintenance let alone new features and they are not old watches.
But for heaven's sake, you pay $1,000 for a watch, and after two years you might feel cheated because the manufacturer makes you pay another $1,000 to make the design more consistent.
This is one of the reasons why I stopped investing more into Garmin watches, and persuaded people I know that it is not worth it. Another ones are numerous and slow to be recognized and fixed bugs introduced in every new software versions. It seems more like free software testing than actual software support.
Exactly, we're all paying beta testers since the software was never finished before release of the watches.
For the features: that's not important to me as long as Garmin solves all the current issues with the delivered and advertised software functions which are still not working.
only software it's old ..they need to update our watches
Garmin-Laurie any news on this ?
It’s not going to happen so no point chasing any body at Garmin. If you want the new UI buy a F8 series watch.
