GUI is looking outdated

Then return your new Epix Gen2 and stick with your Venu 2 - problem solved.

Return it and go for a Forerunner 965. Problem solved. 

It is a matter of taste. I find GUI in Venu 3, Forerunner 265, 965 uneccessarily colorful with those gradients and skewed lines which serve no purpose other than to be different. 

Epix / Fenix are Outdoor Recreation watches, designed and engineered by Garmin's Outdoor Recreation division, for outdoor recreation enthusiasts.

Venu / Vivoactive / Forerunner are Sports & Fitness watches, designed and engineered by Garmin's Sports & Fitness division, for sports & fitness enthusiasts.

When you consider those things, it's not that strange for the GUI to be a bit different between them, and for different aspects to be prioritized. Epix and Fenix prioritize readability and accessibility and very deep menu options. Sports and fitness watches prioritize looking fancy and simplifying things. Different strokes for different folks. Personally I couldn't care less how my GUI looks as long as I can read everything easily, find all the options and settings I want, and it all works.
