Bug in power mode possible deletes whole activity. Pls help??

Hello guys,

today i did a hike with a gpx file. 3:15h. to make it short: everything went fine. In the last 15 min we took a different route than the gpx had so i paused the navigation, ended the navigation and used the back to start feature (not track back but the other one where it calculates the shortest distance). After back at start i ended the workout and in the summary instead of over 3h there was only standing 15 min (nearly exact the time i paused the navigation)

When i went to my latest activitys on my watch everything was fine. The watch tracked the whole 3h hike but it didn't sync to connect. Tried everything.

Had this case once before i went to my mac opened the android file app and noticed that there was no fit file from today under activity. I then synced to garmine express and got all the time an error message.

I tried to delete it like garmin states but didnt work. I then looked into android file app and noticed it had to be one file because in express there was the error message without the files name but with an exact time of this file and there was only one file with this time.

It was the "seg_list" file. Deleted it but still got the error message. Even after deleting !! the whole watch and re installing express on my mac.

I thought that was a weird joke and then switched to a windows pc. I didn't get the error code but also couldnt finde the fit file.

Long story short the file is gone.

AND HERE IS THE THING.

I did 2 outdoor walks after that.

First:

outdoor walk with AOD on (so no power mode) and also used the back to start feature. It synced to garmin connect without a problem.

Second time i used my custom power mode where only Aod is off and boom again back to start feature.... Workout doesnt sync to connect.

My conclusion is after 3 tries:

When you use a (custom) power mode like me and then use the back to start feature, the activity is gone. I don't know if it has something to do with the seg_file but it sucks. I dont know if its really the power mode but after my tries it has to be.

Maybe someone else can try? create a power mode where you turn off AOD and do a walk and use the back to start function. Does it sync

  • Today I did a 1:15h bike ride. I recorded on my epix pro and on my edge 1040 to test it further.

i again used the power mode to turn off AoD but didn’t use the back to start feature = workout got synced to connect. So it has to be the combination power mode + back to start. At least for me

  • Update again: i did 2 outdoor walks with the same settings like yesterday on my hike and on my outdoor walk. this time both activities did save to connect, so i don’t know where the issue was today.

Still need an answer from garmin where i could find the .fit file when its not saved under the activity folder? I know its now too late because it got deleted but for the next time i need to know where i can find it. It needs to be somewhere on the watch because it got saved under recent workouts.

Like I said yesterday there was maybe a problem with the „seg_list“ folder where a .fit file was saved (based on the error I got from garmin express) but i tried to upload this file to connect and although i got no error message nothing happened. I tried to find what this „seg_list“ means but couldn’t find an answer.
