Cannot add new TopoActive Map to Garmin Epix Gen 2

On my Epix Gen 2 watch I can go to Menu / Map / Map Manager / TopoActive Maps and then choose the "Add Map" option it connects to Wi-Fi (successfully) then shows the "Requesting Map Update Data" message but then the watch justs vibrates and goes back to previous screen showing only the maps I currently have downloaded (Aus & NZ and Africa).

I found this old thread that describes the same problem but it says resolved... ?

While it can be done from the watch it is much easier to connect to a computer and use Garmin Express.

I should add I am trying to add North America as I travel to the USA regularly. I don't know why I have Africa downloaded (never been there)...

As @philipshambrook wrote, faster and easier way is to use Garmin Connect on your computer.
If you still would like to do this from the watch, first you have to connect your watch to charger, without it download never starts.
