Redicolous option to upgrade the map via Wifi

I’ve tried two different options regarding the update of maps on my Garmin Epix 2 Pro: updating my Topo and Outdoor Maps+.

Both experiences were ridiculous.

Firstly, why can’t I try Outdoor Maps+ before paying, and why is it managed in Garmin Connect?

But the absolute point I don’t understand is giving us the possibility to update via Wi-Fi, but it’s slow, and it’s necessary to put the watch on charge to complete it.

Please consider these suggestions:

Reduce the file sizes or use a distribution method similar to what’s used for Android.
Change the server or improve its performance.
Allow updates without charging (limit this if the battery is less than 20%) or preload the update in Garmin Connect.
Include map management in Garmin Connect.
Clarify the differences between Topo, Topo Pro, and Outdoor Maps+.

I bricked one of my Epix 2 Pro because the update failed.

If other users have had the same experience, I am curious to know how they resolved it, or if this issue is unique to me.

It’s not slow on my Epix pro when on wifi or if I use my iPhone 14 Pro Max

Outdoor maps+ is the set which includes the topo maps and the layers for buildings, lights and satelle images. Without outdoor maps+ you have topoactive. Downloads through wifi is not slow. That the small satellite images which starts with size of 5MB only, require connection power, should be changed. Otherwise, the outdoor maps are that large, that I anyhow would load them only at home. Even if you choose a small area for download, the download of the topo pro map is for a much larger area. I agree that there should be somehow a better map management in order to better see exactly which areas already downloaded. I vainly tried it with basecamp.

I agree. In my case, my map function was blank after a software update and so I reinstalled maps through Garmin Express. After that, I went to the manage maps section on my watch (Epix Pro Gen 2) and it told me the maps need updating. But it seems like this is only doable via WiFi.
