Beta 17.x firmware update lacking new features because of Epix 3 release?

Just a thought here.  The latest Epix 2 beta 17.x candidates just have bug/stability fixes it looks like.  Usually with the big quarterly releases they add new/nice features.  Some major, some modest.  My gut says the new Epix 3 and Fenix 8 will be coming out before the  end of the summer and any new possible Epix 2 features are being saved for the new watches.  What do you think?

I'm going by the DC rainmaker article about the Epix/Fenix family release cadences in the past few years.  Here:

  • Even if new watches come out most of any new features that aren’t watch specific will eventually end up on the older watches anyway.

  • Judging from my Fenix 6S Pro and comparing features, there are a lot that are not watch specific and just not implemented. Just a few examples:

    • Automatic adjustment of HR zones as max HR and resting HR changes
    • Workout Execution Score
    • Adjusting data pages within workouts within Garmin Connect instead of the watch
  • Not true. Some things may be but most will not be implemented in older watches.

  • I would rather they focus on fixing bugs and making sure that things work righ before trying to push in something new. There are some important reported and unresolved bugs.
