Updating Maps with Garmin Express fails on my Epix 2 Pro

Since a week I'm the proud owner of a Garmin Epix 2 Pro.
I installed Garmin Express on my laptop. It connects fine with the Epix.
The only thing is I cannot update my maps.

When I try to do so, after a while the following popup appears:

My Epix has the latest system software and Express is also the latest version.
How can I solve this problem?

Try updating over wifi. If that still doesn't work, call garmin support.

Both Epix and Laptop are on the same WiFi.
Connecting Express to the Laptop can only be done by the USB cable, as far as I know.
Or am I wrong?

I meant update from the watch itself with the watch connected to wifi, not the laptop. Then when it has a connection, go to map manager on the watch and try from there.
