Epix Gen 2 update problem

I tried that and although I can get into the files on my pc, I still have the same problem.

I've also used the Garmin Express app now and it makes no difference. Unless I hold the Start button for about a minute, I get no other response from the watch and the screen is completely blank.

I currently have the same issue after doin an update 4 days ago. The ‘back’ button (bottom right) stopped working so I was forced to use the screen to slide backwards. In addition to this I could not select the power function as that button stopped functioning. I let the power drain to zero to support a restart. However, after plugging in the watch to recharge, the screen asks if I’d like to reset default settings? If I click ‘no’ this reset question reappears, and if I select ‘yes’ it resets and then returns to the same ‘reset default settings.

The button is stuck. Let the watch in a container with a lukewarm water for a while (Garmin usually recommends 10 minutes, I let it sometimes for couple of hours in freshwater, after dives). Then shake the watch to remove the water (and eventual salt, sweat, or dirt deposits), and see whether it helped to unstuck the button. If not, then reach out to the Support for a replacement.

You can also try using a fine soft toothbrush to clean the slits around the button. Once I managed to release a stuck button with applying very carefully a tiny amount of WD40, but it is a quite dangerous operation, because if it enters the watch (for example through the sensor opening), it can damage it, so it is not something I would recommend doing.

Send it back to garmin and claim your warranty! That's how it should be. Sorry, but I wouldn't accept that. Funny that even garmin seems to propose that as a workaround for their premium sports watches! That tells a lot about their quality.

I have a cheap (200€) and more than 2 years old Instinct 2 , and am not willing to send it back just because of some salt deposit in the button slit, when I can easily and quickly fix it myself. Of course, if you prefer sending it back, and waiting for the replacement, I have absolutely nothing against it. It is finally what I recommended too.

Ok, I agree. When the warranty is over that's the way to go.

But for a new Epix Pro I would send it back and for such an expensive device sich faults shouldn't arise even after two years of usage.

Yes, you are right. I also always send my Ferrari back to the manufacturer in Italy when it gets dirty. Nobody can ask me to clean a car that was so expensive 

Well, I meant leaving it for a couple of hours in the water is not a really comfortable countermeasure.

If its ten minutes I'm with you. But if that wouldn't work, I'll would send it in.

I simply always drop all my equipment into a tub with fresh water, after a dive or a swim, and go to take a beer or two, to give the stuff some chance to properly desalinate. So yes, up and then it can take couple of hours, but I can live that long without the watch.
