Problem with sleep tracking since update on version 16.22?

Since the update on version 16.22 the Epix Pro 2 detects my sleep totalky wrong.

Sitting on the couch watching tv or in bed and reading is detected as sleep.

Anyone else has this problem?

  • I haven’t. My wife hasn’t either. Have you contacted Garmin Support?

  • Garmin sleep tracking has been broken for years. I use a WHOOP for recovery and sleep and just use the Garmin for training. It’s good for training that’s about it.

  • I have contacted support, they couldn't help but said I should sent my log data, screenshots,  my sleep data and what I did, when light sleeping was detected by error.

It took me more than one hour yesterday after a hard working day, the garmin express software had a failure, I had to send the data manually and the instructions where not complete. I did not even get a response that they got the data and if it's OK. Even not after asking again via email today. That's only bad customer relations! They deliver not even beta state software and don't care! And that's for an extremely high price!

I'm fed up. They don't even try to solve the problem or even give any hints that they got the data and they will try to solve it. Not a thank you that you are doing the work that they should habe done during development!

It's just a shame. Let's see what will happen next!

  • Calling the support today, they told me that they will immediately confirm that they got the data via e-mail. Hours later I didn't get that Email.

Garmin support doesn't care if one has a problem with one of their premium devices!

  • The fact that you are not being served in a way that suits you, does not justify the conclusion that Garmin support doesn't care.

You keep on annoying the people on this forum with all your personal issues, which are apparently quite unique to your situation. You bought a sports/outdoor recreation watch that does not meet your expectations. That is unfortunate, however, that does not mean that Garmin makes poor quality products. You could have taken action by returning the watch, but you didn't.

I am very happy with my Epix watch. It is premium watch with superior software and regular updates. I chose not to be in the beta program, so I can enjoy tested firmware. The occasional bug is part of software development. The battery only needs a weekly charge (in contrast to other smart watches). No needs for additional apps. Thank you Garmin!

  • No,

I am not in the Beta program! Version 16.22 is the official one. So, it is not related to software development like you state. I chose not to be part of the beta program because of such bugs. But what garmin does is that they deliver untested official software and that's not fair!

And you all state that I could have returned the watch in 14 days. Unfortunately one cannot find out about all the bugs in two weeks, that's in general impossible and you should also remember that the watch needs to gather data for full statistics and this takes longer than two weeks. So, tell me how I could realize all the bugs in two weeks?

And, if it's that easy to find all the bugs for me, tell me, why don't these great software engineers on their full-time job just repair those bugs. Then I am happy. But they don't and as you see you're not right that I could have found out about all the software issues in two weeks!

    Cheers!

  • And to all the people here claiming that everything is ok with their watches (working for Garmin?) a revealing link about software development and issues at Garmin:

    Definitely as I expected!

  • Yeah, millions of satisfied Garmin users and one frustrated guy in the Munich area that could not afford an apple watch.
