Epix 16.22 has broken the watch

Hi,

Seems my watch upgraded to 16.22 a day or so ago, and now it crashes any time it tries to record any activity - no way to get it back except for a reset.

I did manage to record one activity, so I thought it was fixed, but crashed on the saving screen - managed to sync after a reset but it lost the last part of the ride.

I can't follow any instructions to fix as any button presses cause the watch to freeze. Is there any cure or is my watch bricked?

  • Update May 21, 2024:

Some fixes for crashing, rebooting and freezing were included with the 17.20 Public software update. If you have installed this update, but are still having the issue, there is also a BETA software release version 17.22 that includes fixes for potential rebooting when starting an activity.

Beta Version 17.22 - Now Available OTA

  • I'm on 17.20 already.

3 activities down and no crash. Some of them longer some shorter (30 minutes, over 1hr). One of them with running pod and headphones connected.

I would say: so far so good :)

Interesting that with for all recent updates my watch-face was reset to random one and after every update I was asked to pick music source (podcast vs spotify). With 17.20 my watch face stayed (or randomly picked mine ;) ) and there were no this question.

    Best regards,

    Paweł

  • Ok, a message to Garmin and TomTom etc....you provide support to people who want leisure time in their busy lives. I may be retired but 2 hours (... and ongoing!)  trying to understand the support, lifetime maps and device age.....well I may as well buy an OS Map and plot a route the old way with pen and paper. I've found you helpful in the past. In my case Basecamp was fab to plot precise routes but not any more. Can't even plot a scenic route from Bristol to Dorset!
