Feature Request: Add ability to start activity without using START/STOP button (faulty at the moment)....

So, at the moment i'm waiting for replacement of my epix pro watch, as my start/stop button completely failed - it just doesn't click back/press etc.

But because of that i've realised that there is no other wat to start any activity without start/stop button. - i think there should be option to start it with touch screen...

Also there is no way to even broadcast HR without start/stop button as you can set hot key for hr broadcast - but to turn it on it requires start/stop button press...

It seems like it's a big feature missing - when your button fail.... or if u just don't want to press it (under water, mud etc).

Or am i missing something - and there is a way to start on touchscreen....

thank you

  • Hi,

Interesting idea, thanks for the suggestion.

I would like more option available using TouchScreen, like during Strenght, i can do many actions, but not starting it ...

FYI in the past Vivoactive 3 can go to Menu using Touch

      • Hold your finger on the touchscreen to view an options menu.

Now with Venu3 and VA5 with more buttons, it's not an option.

Is it possible to add touch everywhere ?

    Thanks in advance

Is it possible to add a touch shortcut to go to Activities selection ?

Actually we have to use Upper Right (Start/Stop) button.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hello

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with the button. For this, I would first recommend cleaning the button to see if this resolves the button concern. For this, submerge the watch in warm water for 10 minutes. Then remove the watch and press the button repeatedly. If this continues to not respond, I would recommend contact Garmin product support.

This is an excellent recommendation. The watch does support Move IQ. This means that if you do not start an activity app timer, when you perform an activity the watch will use the accelerometer to try to identify what activity you are performing. This will then show on your daily move graph. But this will not show as a timed activity with stats.

For this recommendation, you can submit these here for Garmin's consideration: Garmin Ideas

  • omg me too

though with a tactix 7 pro

i guess that's why they made the fenix 8 have "leakproof buttons"

i'm sadly just going to have to get a warranty replacement as the soaking trick won't work for me ):

  • Same here ... I'm in Thailand for the next 4 months and button in my new Epix 2 Pro just stopped working. Can't do any activities. Warm water didn't help either. It's also the second watch that died this way. Last one was Fenix 6X Pro that had the same issue just after the warranty expired. It's unbelievable that watch for this amount of money gets so easily broken. I'm super disappointed. The fact that missing 1 button makes the watch useless is laughable especially that other models have option to start stop activity trough screen touch. Seriously Garmin who is in charge there. It's not rocket science

  • I have the same problem, communicated it a while ago to garmin support and tried to call without sucess. I am even more angry about the customer service not being accessible than about the technical failure, which of course also is an absolute no-go!!!
