Epix pro (gen2) crashed after saving track running activity.

Yesterday I did a track running at our local track .

But after the activity I would save it but had no possibility to save it unfortunately. The watch vibrated longer as usual and restarted and then again gave a try to save the activity but still the same happened. It looks like it got freeze on the save screen and continued restarting after trying to save it or even when I delete my activity it was not possible and keeps freezing. So I did a software reset and then it was gone but lost my activity of course unfortunately. More people with the same issue here? Probably just a software bug or small issue?

Greetings Sietse.

  • Hello

I am sorry to hear the watch crashed after your activity recording and the activity was lost. It sounds as though the activity became corrupted. However, if you experience this, you may be able to manually upload the activity. Power the watch off, to end the reboot, by holding the Light button. Then connect the watch with the computer, use these step to manually upload the activity to the Connect account:

How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

If the watch is repeatedly experiencing this crashing concern, please reach out to me via Private Message.

  • I have a similar issue but not quite the same. My outdoor run, when saving just froze with the "saving" screen in limbo. I tried plugging it in and no dice... Cold restart and under last activity it wasn't there. But when i looked on line, it had saved!??! Also, scroll into activity history it was there but it still did not show up as the last activity.  Same thing today... but even wierder. my last activity was last evenings doggy walk and it shows as a multisport/triathlon with the three coloured rings but selecting it it shows as a walk!  I scroll down again and today's activity is there at the top of the list.... but somehow it's not the last activity in the widgets/glances.

    Please fix Garmin!!

  • I had this exact thing happen today after recording a run. The only difference was that I stopped my activity and hit save as I walked 20 or so meters back to my SUV. Then I looked at the watch and it was showing save or resume again, so I hit save once more. That’s when the screen went black followed shortly by the EPIX logo upon restart. My run activity does not show in widgets, but does show in the connect app. This is not as frustrating as my watch constantly going into sleep mode since the last software update … C’mon Garmin and figure this *** out!!

  • I am sorry to hear there has been some ongoing crashing experienced since the most recent update. If you are experiencing any rebooting, crashing, or shut downs on the watch, during activities or general use, please feel free to reach out to me via Private message. I would love to collect some details regarding to help our engineers investigate the concern.

  • Well, I would always recommend to do a factory reset. According to garmin support that solves a lot of issues.

Finally setup everything again, that should not take too long. Good luck, anyway.

  • And don't forget to make a memory shot so that Garmin software engineers can have a look at your data to solve this issues. This helps to prevent this fault to happen to other users in the future, might be.

  • Hello. I have turned off all alarms and the watch continues to put itself in sleep mode. Yesterday when trying to exit sleep mode, repeated pushes of the start/stop button did not exit the sleep mode function, I had to turn the watch off. Upon restart I deleted all alarms. Today it continues to go to sleep mode. I turn it off and it reverts back to it. Finally at 9:28 today after I’ve been in my office for 2.5 hours, the morning report is displayed.
