Auto-pause is horrible

The Auto-Pause feature on my month-old Epix Pro 2 is awful. On pretty much every trail run I go on, I will run for another .5 miles before the watch resumes the activity. This is becoming super frustrating, to the point where I want to sell the watch and go back to Apple. I constantly have to restart manually because the auto-pause doesn't detect that I'm moving again.

Please, Garmin, fix auto-pause. It's really, really bad.

  • Turn off auto pause. Once the signal is lost due to poor GPS it becomes much harder for the GPS to be fixed while moving, especially if the signal is not strong.

It's always been a problem with trail runs that involve dense overhead cover.

  • Where you may have steep climbs etc auto-pause is not a good option as its based on gps straight line distance, and thus while you may be moving due to slope based on gps straight line distance you aren't.

Why would you want to use auto-pause on a trail run anyway....

  • Depending on your type of pause, maybe Auto Pause is not necessary, i personaly disable it, and use Resume Later for long pause period.

Your watch is already capable to detect Run/Walk/Idle and give you these details under your Activity stats

  • Agree.

Even if autopause worked well I still wouldn't want to use it, because often my watch and I just don't agree on when to use at and when not to use it. There's really no replacement for just having good start-button discipline.

Most of the time I just never pause the activityunless I'm stopped for a long time (lunch break or something). If it's just a stop light or pee break I don't bother.
