Are there any plans to change the charging system to something similar to the Apple Watch. I find the charging cable and connectors are hit and miss at the best of times.

the second one is QI wireless charging (induction)

Ah, thank you, shame they haven’t done it for all their watches.
I do understand the issues that may be raised with connectivity to a PC but think that wireless has to be the way ahead.
Hi,
I'm not a fan of wireless charging, because it's not efficient and need more power than a wired solution.
I'm a fan of magnetic charger, but it wasn't push to any other models since Marq Gen2 (which is a standard Epix 2, not Pro iteration).
For me the Marq Gen 2 magnetic solution is just fine, it provides an accurate an reliable connection and maintains PC connectivity. Wireless solutions are not truly wireless as there is still a cable from the power source to the induction platform.
Only garmin knows for sure, none of us here would. But with upcoming premium (Epix 3/Fenix 8) watches, I'd be surprised if they didn't do this. There aren't many new "wow" tech (like multiband GPS) since the last watches to include on the next ones I think they would/should definitely tick this box off. I mean, this is the year 2024.
Everyone has their own preferences, but I wouldn't buy a watch with only wireless charging. I use the watch on multi-day backpacking hikes, and wireless charging pucks are way too big and heavy, compared to regular plugs.
I wouldn't mind a more secure charging connector, though.
