The weather forecast is always around 5 degrees C off. The highs and lows are completely wrong. Even updating the location or setting a location to Melbourne Australia still shows incorrect weather. Where is the information coming from?

Most of the time from the nearest weather station to your position. If Melbourne does not have one that is on Garmins list, it will use the nearest to your position on that list. On EDGE devices it will show the location of that station.
If you need accurate weather, don't use Garmin. There are hundred of posts about this.
Thanks for the information.
Is there a way to see what weather station it is using.
Only way I know is using an EDGE device. "My" station is about 30km away from my home location.
Open one of your outdoor activities in Garmin Connect web. Click on the arrow to expand the weather information in the corner of the map. Google the code it lists for source.
So far I'm loving my Epix, but the built in weather app seems pretty useless. I've been out on hikes where the actual temps went from 45f to 60f and my watch said 52f the entire time!
