Epix 51mm battery expectance (current Enduro 2 user)

I currently have an Enduro 2 and have always had MIP Garmins and dismissed the amoled ones mainly due to the battery usage but things now seem like they’ve possibly changed with the 51mm one which has got me thinking.

By no means will I expect an Epix to last for the duration of my Enduro but just wanting to see what usage people are getting from their 51mm version.

My typical weekly usage is as follows,

5-6hrs GPS use (Auto select)

2hrs of strength workouts

45 mins worth of Yoga animated workouts.

wrist gesture on after sunset for all above

All the above is done with a HRM pro plus connected

As for settings I have WiFi off, bluetooth on, no pulse OX, sleep mode enabled and run the screen at 20% brightness with wrist gesture enabled and a 4 sec timeout on.

I get on average 20 days worth of battery.

As for settings on the Epix it would all be the same minus AOD off and always on selected for all activities.

I’d be upgrading mainly for the screen as a new HRM would be nice it’s not essential as I use a chest strap for all activities.

Any feedback would be greatly received!

Thanks!

  • I moved from a Fenix 7X to Epix Pro 51mm - simply due to the Amoled screen in the size I wanted.

A few things, I thought I would have AOD off, but coming from a MIP display which you could always see, I quickly realised that I needed to use AOD on, so I would bear that in mind.

I have AOD on, sleep settings overnight, then do roughly 45mins of GPS use per day for running and 1hour per week with Yoga and animated workouts. I get 11days battery life and it runs to that most of the time, so I'm charging about once every week and a bit.

I really like the AMOLED display, particularly for maps and even though I've loved all my Fenix's, and the battery life is worse on the Epix, I genuinely prefer it and don't regret making the change.

  • Thanks Ade for the reply that was just the response I was after. Your point on the MIP display and always been on is a very valid point and like you I think without the display always on I would find it hard to get used too! 11 days is still good mind for AOD enabled I was expecting less. Nice to hear you don’t regret it also!
