Data reliability issues and watch freezing

I recently purchased a sapphire 51mm Epix Pro gen2.  Immediately after setting the watch up, I noticed that all my metrics (HRV, Stress, Resting Pulse, Sleep) made significant changes from what has been a long history of health data recording.  By long I mean from the original Fenix watches, progressing through the versions until my last Epix Gen 2.   I also find the watch freezes.  Both when scrolling through the data and badly (10-15 secs) when starting and stopping activity recording.  I was really looking forward to the Epix Pro, but the watch has proven to be unreliable and unusable for me.  I have raised a ticket with Garmin support, received one clarification from them, which I've answered and have now been waiting 2 weeks for what next?

All software has been updated to the latest revisions, the watch has been reset and repaired to Garmin Express, but no changes to the issues above.  Finally, when using a HR chest strap the data recorded during activities seems to be ok.  I have reverted to using my Epix Gen 2 and the Pro has become an expensive desk ornament.

Has anyone else experienced these issues and if so, have they been resolved and what was done to resolve them.

  • I had no bigger issues with the watch until April/May - on the screen, I had a whole line of dead pixels. Garmin replaced the device, and after the replacement, issues started. Initially, I had a problem only with Garmin Express connection - it wasn't working at all, no matter what I did, then my HR sensor went haywire and on 140- 160 bpm showed only 40-90 and felt like it's showing random. Ofc did reset, that didn't help at all, and I'm most likely off to my third watch in 1.5 yr. I'm at the point that I want to go back to my Suunto - wasn't perfect, but it was working at all times :/
