My Epix 2 had continual problems connecting to wireless earbuds. Somewhere around 13.xx. Garmin updated their version, and also Apple provided a firmware update for their products.
Nirvana. My Power Beats Pro worked well. Then came 14.xx and then 15.xx. Once again, powerbeats pro and Jabra 6 were unusable. Back to the iPod. Several threads suggested that this was a Garmin Bluetooth chip issue and the only way to resolve it was to replace the watch.
Bummer.
Jabra active 8 touted that they had updated codecs and were optomized for connecting to smart watches. $149 dollars later, I have a pair of earbuds with excellent sound and ANC and with NO static or dropouts over three hours of running. Only requirement was to update the bud's firmware via the Jabra app.
If you have the means, and if you are having audio issues, you may want to try them before returning the watch.
