Skin irritation from EPIX Pro stock band

I wear my EPIX Pro 51mm for a couple of weeks and my skin was destroyed in the place where the band touches it tightly.

If someone had the same issue, what have you done in order to solve it? What other bands can you recommend instead of the stock one?

  • Your post was, for some reason, in the vivoactive 3 forum. I've moved it to the Epix (Gen 2) forum for visibility.

  • nylon strap.

added advantage is the garmin silicon straps are heavy so save approx 20g of weight too, and they give a much more comfortable fit - for some reason I always find that the holes in the silicon strap don't always provide quite the right fit.

Only ever use silicon if I am going to be doing a lot of swimming  - in and out the water as in this case nylon can occasionaly be irritating as takes longer to dry.

    Leather/metal for work.

That the beauty of a quick change strap system like quick fit that garmin uses - super easy to change straps - and even if using hook & loop nylon strap which does take more effort - its still under 10s to remove and under 30s to re-thread.

My only suggestion would be to complain to garmin with pictures so you can get a free nylon replacement.

  • Will do so, thank you for your suggestions

  • Thanks, that was my mistake :)

  • I get a bit of a rash w/ my Epix 47mm.  Not as bad as yours however.  I'd suggest trying out a Nylon strap (just got one for ~$15 on amazon) and/or not having the band so tight (if it is).  Also for me the biggest thing is to not wear it in the shower and then I alternate wrists to give one 'a break,' so to speak.  Try the above and keep me/us posted.

  • I always take it off before shower and after training to clean. Probably will try to contact support and if they will not help I buy nylon strap by myself

  • Since that kind of irritation is most probably caused by sweat and salt buildup between the strap and your skin, in addition to regularly wiping the strap clean (maybe even every day at the evening), you could also try wearing the watch on your other wrist for the night (I'm assuming you wear it at night). That would allow you skin to breathe and recover during the night.

  • try wearing the watch on your other wrist for the night

That's pretty much what I do. I wear the watch on my left wrist for activities or when using a computer with a mouse, then right wrist while sleeping. Never had any issues with skin irritation.

  • I started doing what I suggested after getting some skin irritation with my old Fenix 5+ just after I bought it. After starting to do the wiping and wrist switch for the night, I've also never had any skin issues during the least 4.5 years, not with the same Fenix 5+ (and the same strap!), nor with my current Forerunner 965.

  • We are sorry to hear about the issue you are reporting. The skin irritation may be a result of build-up on the watch band and/or casing. You should discontinue wearing your watch until your skin has healed.
