Some background appearing in all watch pages (like a transparency background)

I'm having this issue with my Epix, all the pages appear to have a "background" in parts of the images that have some transparency.

In the map the issue is more evident (see below). I already tried theses actions:

  • Reset the watch from factory
  • Soft restart
  • Update all maps with garmin express

However, the issue keeps on.

  • This looks like burn-in. Hopefully it is just a bad one out of thousands and it doesn’t affect the entire line of AMOLED. Because if it does then we need to go back to MIP display.

  • No solution from Garmin, there are in silence here without any answer. My local seller replaced the watch for a brand new one. However, I'm worried if a can use the watch with "always on display" active during the activities. I used the always on display disabled when I was not in an activity, so I guess that I should not have the issue that I had.

  • It has remained extremely rare for an AMOLED display to have an issue. I am happy to hear you were able to exchange your watch.

For anyone that has any type of display issue that does not resolve after restarting and resetting to defaults, regardless of using an AMOLED or MIPS outdoor watch, always reach out to Product Support in your region so we can take care of you.

  • Just noted the same situation this afternoon. Never seen it before. I emailed the issue just now to support. Tried turning off contours, using a high contrast theme. Thought maybe like before when all my maps were blank, I would delete it and re-download, which I just did to no avail.

Got a fast reply from support just now. Love my Epix. Hope can get it sorted.

Just got a response and Garmin will be replacing mine.

  • I've seen this across garmin devices for years now on different forums

my guess is that this is another example of the usual screen lottery of garmin, that was very prevalent with mips displays (one is with very good contrast, other is bluish, low contrast crap even in premium category), just this time for amoled screens

there could be different manufacturers for these screens, one is excellent without the slightest burn-in for years of constant use, other will burn-in days and months

  • Same issue here. I've had my watch for well over a year... This seemed to be noticeable after one of their latest updates. Be nice to see input from Garmin, but they probably don't monitor there own forums...

  • What kind of input are you hoping to get from Garmin on these forums? Except for the "For anyone that has any type of display issue that does not resolve after restarting and resetting to defaults, regardless of using an AMOLED or MIPS outdoor watch, always reach out to Product Support in your region so we can take care of you." already mentioned above?

There's very little Garmin can do based on your description only, so they'll need more information. And that's best handled through their official support.
