Epix 2 pro standard display of 24k vs 100k Topo maps

I am looking at Garmin Topo maps for my new epix 2 pro standard. It appears I can get all of North America at 100k or regions of North America at 24k. With the small screen on my Epix, will the 24k maps be any better than the 100k maps? Or are there more trails listed in the 24k maps than the 100k maps. Basically, I don’t want to pay for the 24k maps and then only get the same level of detail as the 100k maps unless there are more trails or poi’s in the 24k versions of the maps.

  • Hi, I have the 24K maps and the TopoActive maps on my Epix Pro 51mm and I regret purchasing the 24K maps as it's not very valuable to see the extra contour lines over the TopoActive maps and the TopoActive maps are based on OSM data and are showing more trails and POI's than the 24K maps.  I just use the TopoActive and I have a subscription to Outdoor Maps + and download the HD Contours overlay for the region I will be hiking/camping in.

  • Yeah, that sounds like a good way to go. The trails are more important to me in general, but i'll probable pickup the boundary waters maps also to get the portages and campsites as that detail has the most impact in my use case.
