Exclamation mark to left on the notification glance? (iphone - ios 17.1.1)

My phone Device : iphone 15 (ios17.1.1)

What does it mean when there is a red exclamation mark (!) to the left of the summary in the notification glance? (garmin connect close)

After opening Garmin Connect, it returns to normal

I believe I’m receiving notification as expected.

Other users with iPhone devices, have you encountered similar issues? Thank you.

The 'fix' is to keep GC open.

Not quite. The watch can still be connected to the phone even with GC closed and phone notifications will still be received. What the red exclamation mark is explicitly saying is that it's not connected to Garmin Connect and any data or notifications specifically needing Garmin Connect will not be updated.
