Garmin Epix 2 - Buttons stopped working

Hello everyone,

I bought an Epix 2 around March of this year, I've already replaced it once in June and now the same issue happened again. I have started a support ticket and they should replace it again, however, I was wondering if there is something I can do to avoid it happening in the future.

The issue is that some buttons have stopped working. They are still clicking, no sound/feeling differences compared to the working buttons, however, the clicks don't do anything. I've tried the cleaning and soaking tips that Garmin support pages suggest, however, it might work very shortly (1-2 minutes max) sometimes, not even every time I do the soaking procedure. I have tried resetting the watch, but I think it's a hardware problem as nothing changed.

Any tips on this?

  • Known issue unfortunately for Fenix 7 and Epix watches, especially when watch is used for surfing or swimming. Contact Garmin support and ask for rrplacement. There is nothing you can do to fix it.

  • Just sent off for my second Epix Gen2 Saphire. Iast one lasted just on 6 months. I REALLY love the screen, but as i swim regularly, this is really NOT. a multisport watch. I have been looking at the Fenix but it seems that that has the same issue.

It would be so nice if they produced an updated version of the Forerunner 935 that actually lasts. MY 935 is now my backup and only started giving issues after 7 years. I replaced it with the Epix Gen 2.  It would be so nice if Garmin could produce stuff like that again. Even the 965 have got a bad rap on the forums

I will try the new refurbished one they send me but maybe after 14 years of being a Garmin Fan it is time to look for one a company that produces something that will last more than a couple of months.

Maybe I am wrong in thinking if you are paying near £3-400 for something you expect it to last more than 6 months??
