Garmin Epix 2 system update problem

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with my new Epix 2. The installed software is 8.45. Unfortunately, the device does not see any updates other than map updates. The Connect app on iOS does not see any system updates. Similarly, Garmin Express. Has anyone encountered this problem?

    I had the same problem earlier. Took hours to sort. I'd tried to update the software directly from the watch (12.xx to current, 14.68) -- it downloaded the 14.68 package, but kept freezing whenever I tried to apply it. So I tried updating from Garmin Express, but all it saw was the map updates. I went ahead and applied those using Garmin Express (said it would take 2+ hours, but only took maybe 15 mins). After the map update GE still wasn't showing any available software updates, so I unplugged the watch, restarted it, and tried applying the software update I'd downloaded earlier. Looked it was going to hang again, but then it finally worked.

    Thank you for the response. Yesterday, I finally managed to update to version 14.68. Previously, the Garmin Connect app notified me about a new update. Excited, I proceeded with the update, but to my surprise, the system showed firmware version 8.45 again after the update process. I connected the watch to Garmin Express, but, as in your case, it only showed map updates with an estimated installation time of 2:45. In reality, it took much less time.

    When I received the prompt to disconnect the watch from the computer issued by the Express application, the option to install the latest firmware appeared on the watch face. With some hesitation, I initiated the installation from the watch, expecting a situation similar to when the installation option appeared in Garmin Connect. Fortunately, this time the watch installed version 14.68. I switched from an Apple Watch and am accustomed to clear information about firmware updates. It's unfortunate that Garmin doesn't provide notifications in either the Connect or Express apps about specific firmware availability. Is there a firmware database available for independent downloading anywhere?
