I am coming from forerunner 955 and considering to buy the epix pro gen 2 47 mm without saphire. Are the bezels scratch resistant enough?

I have the 51mm in the black DLC and sapphire screen. I can't count how many times I have brushed by something, usually a cement wall, terrified to look down at the damage I've done, only to see nothing…
It's a great watch except having double bezel and approx.15% unusable display loss. Garmin is lazy enough not to prepare an original screen template for Epix pro and just used the Fenix 7X screen template…
Love my Epix 2 Pro 51mm. It's the 6th Garmin watch I've owned, and miles ahead of everything I owned before it. In my opinion, the best sports watch on the market.

Very pleased with my Epix Pro 51mm.
Where I live, the pro Sapphire can be found cheaper than non sapphire.
I have both 955 and Epix sapphire non pro. I like the Epix a lot more, so can recommend the upgrade. And sapphire holds up perfectly. It is tough and always looks like you just polished it. I recommend sapphire.
I think it will depend on if you go with the DLC or natural version. Ti, no matter what anyone says is more prone to scratch than SS. The advantage to Ti is that those scratches tend to patina along with the rest of the case, so it’s not as noticeable vs. SS.
Adding a DLC coating to the Ti makes it much more scratch resistant because DLC has a very high mohs rating. Downside to DLC is it’s not scratch proof, so if you do scratch through the coating, you’ll be left with the base case color showing through. And unless you refinish the whole case/bezel/or part that was scratched, there’s no option for spot treatments. At the price point of the watch vs the cost of repair, you’re going to decide to live with it unless the watch has some kind of sentimental value.
With that said, I own the 1st Gen DLC Epix with the DLC vented Ti bracelet, and they’ve both held up great. I would definitely reconsider opting for the sapphire glass. Personally scratches on the crystal bother me way more than on the bezel/case…obviously YMMV
I have 47mm pro stainless steel version. I’ve stop counting how many times I hit ladders, concrete wall, steel poles etc… so far it’s holding well with no major scratches.
I have Epix pro sapphire with raw titanium bezel. Love it! Prior to this I had Epix (non pro) purchased soon after release last year. Love that but could not live without the LED flashlight. I come from a long line of Forerunners (still have a 255 which I still use on occasion and 945 that I no longer use). In between buying my Epix and Epix Pro, I tried 965 for about 2 weeks but did not see the point in that watch so I returned it. My gripe with 965 is: lots of firmware bugs (this was back when 965 was brand new); plastic appearance I could not wear in my professional life; so for purely a running watch (not 24x7 wear) the AMOLED screen did not make sense for me.
My Epix Pro just needs LTE emergency features from 945 LTE (with some minor enhancements... "honey I will be late for dinner" without calling 911) and at that point I think Garmin has the perfect watch.
Where is this?
