Replacement Epix 2 on v14.36 factory reset leaving only English

Hi everyone!

I had a Garmin Epix Gen 2 Sapphire 010-02582-30 the one with the leather band and all black buttons but i had to RMAed it.

The watch i got as a replacement from Garmin has some issues.

1. The watch icon shown in Garmin connect and in Garmin express is wrong. Garmin connect shows the black sapphire variant the one with one red button and the express shows just a generic icon. I had not that issue with my previous watch, both connect and express showed the right watch icon. I wrote to the support and they said that this is an issue with the Garmin connect app but this could not be the issue because i have the same issue with Garmin express on my PC.

2. After factory reseting it there is only English now, there is no other language to choose. I tried to find and choose my language (Swedish) from the watch, through app and also from Garmin express but i did not get any other languages to choose.

3. The start button is a bit hard to press without giving the clicking-sound the other buttons does. That was also the issue with my first Epix and it became worse over the time.

About the watch icon, could it be a watch software issue? Is it possible to find and install the original software image for the model 010-02582-30 the one i had and also supposed my new watch also to be? This could also fix the language issue i suppose.

Can i also do something about the sticky button?

  • Hi. I have exactly the same problems with an Epix Gen2 that came back from service (replaced with recertified: model S10-02582-11). It comes in a gray box with an inscription: GPS unit, EPIX gen 2, Sapphire, Gray Titanium, EMEA, Recertified.

    With the difference that in Garmin Connect for iOS the icon is correct. But I have the same problem with the device image in Garmin Express and deleting language files after restore.

  • Hi, Chris recommended me to replace the watch again, but unfortunately Garmin support in my country does not work so efficiently and it is difficult for me to "break through". According to them (local support) it is not a problem.

  • You have paid a premium price for it and you should get a premium support as well, from your local support too.

    On the other hand, I am curious about the cause of the issue.

    And one more interesting piece of information , if you install the beta version 14.68, all the language files will return and will not disappear after restoring to factory settings.

    But with the beta version, another annoyance (I don't know if it's related to this particular watch or the beta version in general ), which I tried to describe here:

    i can tell a similar story. Also got a Replacement for my EPIX Sapphire leather edition and the icon in the Garmin connect APP is now changed to the black watch with the red button. :-(

    With the languages i had no issues so far but about the button i also have to say that in my case the "Light-Button" has not nearly the same clicky feeling like my old one...

    So i'm also interested for solutions regarding button improvement or changing the watch icon again in the app properly...

    The icon in the APP will not be able to be changed but as far as your button goes, if you have any issues with it working whatever or any concerns due to it's 'feel' when you press it, do not hesitate to reach back out to Product Support in your region.

    As far as the languages go, as long as you do not do a master reset, you will be fine. If you do a System > Reset or master reset, your watch will only work with English unless there is a new software version you can update to that will then replace the languages.

    The issue is being worked on by our engineering team to get resolved as soon as possible.
