Epix Pro Sapphire

Epix Pro has sapphire screen so it’s scratch resistant. Does the bezel also have some coating to make it scratch resistant.

is the screen has glare also ..

  • Epix Pro has sapphire screen so it’s scratch resistant.

    Garmin says :

While the sapphire crystal lens can be very difficult to scratch, it is still not scratchproof.“

  • The sapphire screen is indeed quite scratch resistant compared to the gorilla glass screen.

The sapphire screen does have an anti-reflective coating that creates a bit more glare than the gorilla glass screen. It is not a problem for me, but I can certainly see the differences with a sapphire watch and a gorilla glass watch side by side.

There are different bezels and their resistance to scratches varies. The metal finishes tend to scratch more easily, but the scratches are less noticeable because they create something of a patina. The DLC finishes (diamond like coating) are very scratch resistant, in my experience, but there are lots of people who have dinged them and left a scratch. I have often bumped my DLC watch against something and dreaded looking at it because I was sure I had left a mark, but was amazed to find that I did not leave a mark. But if you do scratch the DLC coating, it will stick out like a sore thumb.

  • to which there is always a black sharpie according to some. But yes an uncoated titanium bezel is easier to deal with nicks & scratches - but much more likely than the DLC.

I have had F6x (about 18 months) and my Epix 18 months and I am really cliumsy and am always banging bumping my watch, plus had a nasty fall a couple of weeks ago (scabs still on knees and elbows) - watch still pristine - sapphire glass & DLC bezel.

(side note previous watch to them was a suunto 7 - poly carbonate bezel - that was significatinly chewed up after 9 months of use - but did its job of keeping a prisitine gorilla 3 glass safe.So really is doing it job).

Side note - makes me wonder what has occured to guys/gals who do managed to damage their sapphire glass and or DLC bezel...

  • I've had my non-Pro epix 2 sapphire since the day it came out last year.  Not a scratch on the screen, but a few scratches on the bezel.  I guess Titanium isn't that super after all.

  • I just ordered the sapphire version cannt wait
