How do i use outdoor maps+?? Do i need to have topo maps installed? How do i preload an outdoor map for somewhere im going?

I have an epix 2 and paid for the outdoor map+ thing but i cant get any part of it to do anything. Ive got no idea what to do! I know it recognized the subscription cause it activated the maps+ option on the watch, but the only thing i can do is go to my current location and load a 2mi square..but even that did nothing after downloading. How can i preload a map for somewhere im going? I downloaded garmin connect on my phone and pc, and garmin express on pc but cant find any options.

I have it on my fēnix 8 and to be honest it's that unreliable it's a complete waste of money...if you disable satellite image on the layers menu it'll let you download a much larger area... Then again sometimes mine won't even give the topo pro option...absolute garbage and a rip off ...no joy from Garmin ....I'm going suunto next time I'm fed up of their watches they are like toys tbh

I had it on my E2 non-pro soon after it came out. Honestly, it was absolutely unusable with how slow it was. I mean the built in topo maps are painfully slow by themselves. Moving around and then waiting for the watch to draw the map. I actually called up garmin support and they refunded my money for the Outdoor+ subscription. I couldn't imagine being in an activity and using outdoor+ maps, it just wont' work.
