How do I import waypoints from Google earth? Also...fishing

  1. Is there any way to import my waypoints from Google Earth, or any other such program, into my Epix Pro?
  2. I would like to use my Epix while fishing to record the areas I fish so that I can return to them later. To do this I need to be able to create names for the pins I drop, but I don't see a way to name the pins I drop.
  3. Is anyone aware of any third party apps or services for fly fishing that integrate well with the Epix?
  • For #1, a google search for "import google earth waypoints into garmin" results in several YT videos about how to do it including some that appear to be related to fishing. You may need to use Garmin Explore app or the Explore website to go between Google earth and the watch.

For #2, if you press and hold on the map on the watch, you can create a pin. Tap the top right button to save it, at which point you can edit the name.  These will also show up in the Explore app.

    For #3, no idea.

  • 3. What level of detail do you want, cause as  pointed out there is a built in fish app on your watch which does the following:

    a) Fish Glance:

    Fish forecast

Displays predictions for the best days and times for fishing based on your location, the moon's position, and the moon rise and set times. You can view the rating for the day and major and minor feeding times.

    b) Fish Activity:

    fish catch log.

save location function (though can do this via control menu and or via hotkeys) - all of them allow you to edit the name of the save point.

fish timers (though hotkeys can allow you access to timers too) - not sure if these are additional or your normal timers.

you can view saved locations, you can navigate to saved locations.

    2) If using watch to drop pin - as stated in my point 3 you can use fishing activity, or you can use hotkey with saved location set to one, or just use the control menu and save location opiton. Once you have saved a location you get an option to edit - take that option and go in and edit the name. Can sync these to explore or even apps like Komoot.

    1) 2 easiest methods I know is to load them into Garmin Explore and sync to watch and or use Komoot and sync to watch (need to insall komoot app - but don't use it to track anything as pointless for Epix - just use it to sync routes/waypoints etc).

If there are any open maps for fly fishing spots you could also load those maps onto your watch (assuming you can get them in the right format) and then you would be able to use the POI on those maps.
