Bad performance (CPU / FPS) on Epix Pro

I switched from the Fenix 7x to the Epix 2 Pro. I found that the Fenix is much better performing than the Epix Pro.

Incoming notifications are displayed on the Epix at only about 10-15 fps. Everything jerks and is anything but fluid. Frame drops also occur when quickly scrolling through or reading notifications. Activating the torch by double-clicking on the Epix also takes much longer than on the Fenix. On the Fenix, the flashlight comes on immediately after the second click, whereas on the Epix, the flashlight only lights up when the hand is long gone.


I am aware that a higher clock speed of the CPU causes higher battery consumption. But I'm really unhappy with the Epix Pro right now because of the jerky behaviour. I wish Garmin could add an option under power settings to increase CPU at the expense of battery. I would be too happy to trade 1 week of runtime for good performance! Currently I absolutely regret of buying the epix instead of the fenix as I cant send it back (bought at reseller)

P.S: A standard dial has always been used.

    I find my Epix quite responsive (non pro), but primary uses buttons. Using touch to scroll through glances is bit jerky and and panning on the map also is a bit slow to update. But for my normal use, I have no complain. I have 955 also and haven't noticed any speed deficit except panning the map due to higher resolution and pixels to draw.

    It's having the same CPU (and if you can call it so GPU) as the 7 but 4 times the pixels. I don't think there will be a fix. Its

    a lag of computing power.

    I noticed it as well, and that was the primary reason I returned mine. I bought mine at launch and sort of assumed they'd have fixed that by now. I really noticed it on inbound notifications.

    I received mine today as well and I can see the lag. Especially on the 51mm which has more pixels to push to the screen. Garmin should give us an option, as suggested, to prioritize performance over battery so we can have consistent framerate and the experience is fluid. WearOS used to be horrific in terms of dropped frames and Google fixed it, it wasn't an issue on my Fenix 6 also. I mean make it a user choice, especially on the 51mm, the battery life demolish the competition so I don't care of losing a day or two just so that I enjoy using my watch, and scrolling doesn't feel like the first gen Nokia/Blackberry touchscreen phones.I work on the tech industry and these days there is really not much customers that agree with sluggish UIs delivered to them.

    It's especially bad on the widgets glance if you use the touchscreen to scroll.

    At the launch of the standard Series, i saw CPU score of 9.4, but since many months reports provide 7.8 at max, i can't explain why.

    But Venu 2 Plus, FR945LTE and FRx55/FRx65 seems to always provide this higher score.

    I will request for new reports from FR users with latest System version ASAP.

    But i don't saw nothing clearly relevant to performance in the Beta changelog.

    Some lock/laggy/drawing that could help/improve it ???

    Here my result (epix 2 pro 51mm v 14.31):

    Cpu 7.6 / 55.6 pips

    I don't really notice any lag. on the other hand between my old F6pro and the epix 2 pro it is much more fluid ...

    Edit : I run a another benchmark : CPU 7.8/ 58.8 Pips....

    There is a little fluctuate with the results...
