cannot unlock maps

I'm getting "Cannot unlock maps" at startup even though they show just fine, while out running or biking for exemple

I've done a sync through Garmin Express

I'm running the latest beta 14.30 (out today) but it's been doing this since I been on at least 3 / betas, I don't think I had it before, but as I switched to betas straight after buying it, I can't be certain

Any ideas ?

  • I am sorry there is an issue. Are you certain 100% you have only seen the issue after updating to the v14.30 Beta that was released earlier today?

    We recently had an issue for Cannot Unlock Maps that was being caused by 1 of the 3 CourseView Golf course image files but the issue has since been resolved.

    Please try the following:

    - Uninstall Garmin Express off your computer then install it again.

    - Use your option to reinstall your CourseView maps.

    Had a quick try, but getting the dreaded 'There Was An Error Syncing With Garmin Connect' of course it connect perfectly with my 66i

    I do so hate Windows, have deleted all Garmin folders and files, rebooted PC and trying again ;(

  • Thanks, I've seen this message for a couple of weeks now,  At least the last three betas that's for sure. Though only when starting / restarting the watch

    Am unable to sync the Epix for the moment with Garmin express on the computer (window) as keep getting "There Was An Error Syncing With Garmin Connect" Have deleted / ri-installed and  re-started the PC to no avail 

    Have just done a complete reset of the watch, had the error message 'Can't unlock the files as soon as the boot was finished. also I used the backup that was suggested, to get back  my settings but again same message 'There Was An Error Syncing With Garmin Connect' as soon as I tried syncing, Maybe tomorrow I'll try a a reset without using the backup

    GC works fine with my 66i so it's the watch that is causing the problem

    "Use your option to reinstall your CourseView maps" as I can't sync with Garmin Connect I can't try that

    Any other ideas ?

    Can I try and delete the xxx.img file directly from the watch that's causing the problem ? if so which one ? and maybe the sync file maybe so that I can try again with GE (I use Linux so I can see all the files)

     

  • Okay, managed to get the watch synced and reinstalled course maps, problems seems to have been solved

    To get around the syncing problems I actually installed a new second account (on my Wife's computer as I don't use Windows=

    Took time but it's been done, Maybe one day we'll have Garmin express for Linux ????? (Garmin Express is the only program that I ever use in windows)
