yeah somebody at garmin clearly screwed up, I'm not an unpaid product tester so they can figure it out or lose customers. hilarious that they have the balls to sell outdoor maps+ subscriptions and can't push working map updates. clearly the forum monkeys have no idea what is going on and offloading everyone to https://support.garmin.com/en-US/ which will be just another guy reading through a flowchart and have no idea what he's doing either.

I don't know if it is the same issue, but I have jut done a map update for my EPIX GEN 2 sapphire edition and right after this update, a message from GARMIN EXPRESS informed me that something went wrong during this update and since, the message "cannot unlock the maps" is raised by the watch if I restart it => in French it is : dévérouillage des cartes impossible.
Any idea how to solve this issue ?
Note : with garmin express, I have uninstalled all the maps and reinstall them once again, still the same issue.
