Garmin express crashes when transferring music
Trouble shooting steps below - All issues occur when attempting to transfer for the first time an iTunes Playlist.
Firmware updates via Garmin express work,
Map updates via Garmin express work.
Music transfer via Garmin express crashes each time.
I've called Garmin - they've essentially ignored the issue and done nothing to resolve the source of the problem. They initially thought it was me, my computer, my music, my playlist, my watch.
2 Mac laptops tested
2 Garmin Epic Gen 2 have been tested and the issue is still there with both
MacOS Montery 12.6.4
Garmin Express 7.17 and 7.17.2 - crashes each time when music is transferred (may last a few seconds before error dialogue box pops up, otherwise immediate crash
- garmin-express-7.12.2 - Worked once to transfer a full playlist (150 songs) then never again
- garmin-express-7.12.1.0 - Crashes as 17.7
- Garmin-express-7.10.0.0 - Won’t connect to Garmin Servers, app won’t load, though sometimes it will get to the point where it says the only option is to download a later version - the later version it downloads it Garmin Express 7.16 (not 7.17 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) - This version 7.16 crashes as well.

Forums indicate that Garmin Express 7.12 was the last stable version and non-staff are suggesting to roll back to this . That post was a year ago, there have been no comments from Garmin employees, and no fix offered in 12 months.
MacOS Ventura 12.6.4 (as above - same experience on MacOS latest version)

Tried each of the USB file transfer protocols for each of the above GarminExpress versions (Settings > System > USB Mode)

Both result in a crash of Garmin Express
On the watch, within the file system what is the format of the Playlist file, and how can I manually create these?
I have also tried a Mac App called Android File transfer - this works.
I've resorted to using Microsoft Excel to create playlist files and Android File Transfer to get music on the watch.
Does anyone know how to fix the issue of Garmin Express crashing so that music can be transferred and synced?
Does anyone know how to get Garmin to pay attention to (this forum) and the issues with their apps and get them to finally bring a solution to this ongoing problem.
