Exchanging Device - Slow Process !!

Hi, has anyone else tried to Exchange their device from Ireland - they use UPS to collect/deliver so I got all the details sorted, UPS guy arrived on Friday the 7th July.

In Ireland,  UPS deliver the device to a location in Bray Co. Wicklow, I got the delivery notification on Monday the 10th July @08:53am, so I taught, great,  I'll have the watch very soon as it's a replacement and not a fix. In my head I taught the guy in Bray would just go, yep have the original, ok to send out a new one and I get the replacement a few days later!! Nope, as of right now, 17th July, Garmin Order Update status page is still saying they haven't received it.

Nice guy in support but all he could tell me is they haven't received it in Southampton, he can't even tell me if its in transit, so it appears the Garmin place I sent it to in Bray has done nothing with it - what are they doing with it ?...support guy said it can take upto 10 working days to get the device from  Bray to their Southampton offices, no idea why that is so slow - this is just not acceptable,  I'm training for a marathon and need the watch asap.. Garmin have slowed this process down, to me Garmin received it on the 10th July, regardless of where, it's in Garmin's possession now, so send me the replacement now !!

  • you do know that Garmin will offer to send replacement first, as long as prepared to put down deposit. Send out the unit first, then when you get it it you return yours. Once they receive yours, you get your deposit back?

Not sure can really blame garmin for slow UPS (why I currently hate using them) - other than to complain to Garmin about their lacklustre performance so perhaps Gamrin may be persuaded to not use them (though often find that outsourcing like this is done regionally i.e. may use UPS across the whole of Europe - so depending on that can be difficult to get them to change outsourcer.

  • thanks Jaamgans, I didn't know that was an option, I reached out to support again and yes you are correct;  it's an option but needs to be agreed prior to finalizing the exchange order, as mine is already been processed that option is not available to me now  - if they had given me the option when I was arranging the exchange I would have taken it...

Re - UPS, from my perspective, UPS collected the package Friday afternoon and delivered it Monday morning so couldn't argue with that service - Garmin have my watch since last Monday but can't tell me where it is now or even if it has been forwarded,  so yes I blame Garmin.

  • sorry - you initial post sounded it was still with the various different UPS supply depots.
