OS Redesign

Please Garmin, give us an OS redesign. Others have wanted it. The look has become old and outdated. Give us something closer to the Forerunner series. You may innovate on the tech but the OS design lacks the same. There's so much you can do with it, especially because of the Amoled. Some may say they don't want an update, but these are the same people that didn't want a touchscreen or flashlight. Now, these are big irreplaceable features. I spent $1100 on my Epix Pro and would expect a better looking system.

Curious why you purchased the Epix Pro knowing that the look is "old and outdated."

  • You clearly didn't read my post. I said the OS design looks old and out dates, not the watch itself. Garmin has been using the same design for years now, any design changes.

  • I understand Thumbsup I don't agree but do understand. Again, I would submit your request, as I'm sure you're not going to get much traction on the forums, other than other users commenting.

  • No, I think I'll do what I want with "my" post. And, I have already gotten traction and messages.

  • Well, I will say this (subjective I know) but last week when I decided to invest in the pro, I was comparing to the 965.  That interface and ALL of the watch faces, looked so "cartoon" like it felt like a toy.

If anything, Garmin needs to allow us to use OEM watch faces from one model to another to make everyone happy.  I hate that I can't get any nice, simple, classic forerunner watch faces on my new Epix.  (I don't want a third party one either, that drains the battery faster and may not support AOD).

  • Of course you can do what you want with your post. But if you want any traction with your suggestion then you need to contact Garmin through their ideas page as noted. Since this is a peer-to-peer forum the only posts you’ll likely see are comments for or against your suggestion from everybody else but Garmin.

  • I agree with you about the watch faces. I hate most third party watch faces and dislike most of the stock faces on my Epix. I love the forerunner faces. As far as the OS, I don't agree with you. Garmin needs more design options that utilitize the screen. My Epix is so plain and old. Garmin hasn't updated it's design for the Fenix and Epix for many generations. It's sad.

    looked so "cartoon"
    • bingo, that was the word I was looking for

    coros is even worse Shrug

I wear the FR965 but without those watchfaces with a clearly 'other gender' influence Rofl

  • To each their own. I am perfectly happy with the existing OS on the Epix Pro.

  • I used Garmin Fenix (and Epix) for 7 years now. The interface as not been improved much but some improvement are more spectacular than others. The way the compass behave smoothly now is just a must.

And you are right as the shades and gradients are eye candies on AMOLED displays.
But so far I do prefer some Epix Gen 2 "older" watchface (with Epix Pro broader hands) on my 51mm Epix Pro, go figure.

Now Update could bring new skins. It is not an OS change and just a "look" improvement.
Personally I always wanted the possibility to be able to change the fonts and their size. ;-)

Let see what the future brings.

Now you have bought an expensive watch knowing how the look and menus will look. Garmin wants a "professionnal" interface on the Epix not a "funky" running watch interface. This is their call.
And, pardon my English, it's too late to complain. ;-)

Enjoy your watch. Outdated interface looks even better in Redshift mode. Now this is a low-tech eye candy. :-D
