DC Rainmaker has said he believes the hardware is on this device and only needs Garmin to activate it via a software update. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks.

so you are 100% certain it is coming ?I have no idea... lol
Was just pointing out the HR sensor on the non pro models do not support ECG.
ECG? I have never heard of such technology. If anything…
I'll just say the same thing that I said to folks buying the original non-Pro models last year who had the expectation that it might eventually have ECG:
Don't buy a watch with the expectation that…
The only people who know work for Garmin or the FDA. So no. The speculations / "insider information" about ECG coming to the original Epix 2 / Fenix 7 were dead wrong, so... you just have…

Original Epix 2 / Fenix 7 HR sensors do not have the hardware to support ECG, but the pro models do (with the new HR sensor)
so you are 100% certain it is coming ?
Gen 2 PRO models do have built-in hardware for ECG, they just need FDA approval. I doubt they will fail with the FDA approval, since that would be a huge issue for them (higher unit cost, unhappy customers,...). So it will come eventually.

I'm 100% sure it might be coming. lol
HR sensor on the non pro models do not support ECG
It is not exact, the venu 2 plus has the same HR sensor and there is an ECG
Epix gen2 does not have a metal ring around the sensor, that's why it can't measure the ecg... Probably the same is for Epix pro with new hr sensor but without metal ring...
For now, it looks like the only Venu 2 plus has that metal ring around the sensor. You can check hardware compatibility at: support.garmin.com/.../
explanation in the video: www.youtube.com/watch
And from Garmin-Chris:
There is an internal hardware component for the ECG feature to work. Other than the Venu 2 Plus, there are no current Outdoor or Fitness segment watches that have the ECG required hardware. The ECG feature cannot be added strictly through software without the hardware already inside the watch case.
Currently, what the HRM-Pro+ provides is not using the same technology that ECG requires to provide the metrics during an ECG test ran.
The new sensors on the pro model do support ECG, because they have the isolation ring. See here at 4:20...
Your information is not correct, pro models have the hardware.
