Frustrated with the new Workout Alerts

Previously, workout alerts would simply 'beep' 5 times and (if audio prompts were on) your headphones would state the upcoming interval and intended pace / power or whatever.

Since the latest upgrade .... after the 5 beeps.I get told the result of the last interval, before the instructions for the next.

It would be great if this was an option to turn off. Because, in short intervals, I don't want to spend a bunch of seconds listening to the result of the last interval when I am not being told what the new interval is.

Secondly, there seems to be a bug.

When I am doing a distance interval, followed by a rest period. The audible alert is telling me how far I ran in the interval. Why? I know I am running 400m for example, but I want to know how long it took. If I am doing 10 x 800m I don't need to be told each time that I ran 800m. I need to be told how long it took.

For intervals set by distance .... 400m, 800m, 1km etc etc. The result should be given in time. Not distance.

Ironically, the recovery period after the interval is also set in distance, but the alert tells me the time taken for my recovery!

  • I do agree! Previous behavior was much more useful. No need to know how and what last interval was, most important is upcoming one.

  • One thing that I think is better is that if I previously had a pace range, it said start and end of range, a lot of numbers. Now it only say the target pace as the one in the middle of start-end.

  • Ah crap i Started a new thread with just this complaint. Can't delete :( Might copy-paste my text here to add existing thread.

    It was a little annoying before the latest update (June 2023) but;

    1. Heart rate zone alerts on an activity (I use it to keep me in Zone 2 runs) while I play music from Spotify through bluetooth.

    Heart rate high: *beep* and a TTS voice saying "Heart rate HIGH 150"
    Heart rate returns to normal: *beep* and a TTS voice saying "Heart rate, in-range"

    A simple *beep* on my wrist/through headphones would suffice. If you MUST hear a TTS voice then "150bpm" is enough words to interrupt my music with.

    Currently got no way to turn this off/trim down the notifications.

    2. Structured workout alerts just got MORE lengthy! (take for example a run with 30-seconds sprint, 30 seconds recovery 25 times)
    It used to just say: *beep* TTS voice: Run 30 seconds.
    *beep* TTS voice: Recover 30 seconds.

    Now it yaks on for half an hour:
    *beep* TTS voice: Run 30 seconds
    *beep* TTS voice: End of interval X, 140 meters, recover 30 seconds.
    *beep* TTS voice: Run, 30 seconds.

    At least give us the option to have;

    1. Normal length notifications (as above)

    2. "Short" notification where you trim the TTS down to only bare essentials like "Recover" and "Run" and for heart rates "High" and a simple *blip* when it returns to normal.

    3. Then also the option to disable the TTS altogether. Don't interrupt my music.
