Showing Time/Clock during activity

Is there an easy way to find the actual time during an activity (WITHOUT adding it as a datafield?).

Currently I long-press top left into the Control Wheel, select Stop-Watch, which has a SMALL time of day clock at the top, and then just back out back to the activity.

Is there a control I'm missing that has a larger time of day display, or some method of getting to the regular Watch face or similar?

  • your back/lap button standard hotkey when long pressed should take you back to watch face. But seriously why would you even do that - just add a data field and or add data page with the time on it.

  • Not standard on the pro models anymore. The hotkey needs to be configured because "lap" button is now "recent apps".

  • Long press Lap I have configured as Garmin Pay.

"And seriously why would I even do that" - because I have a set up I like and I don't want to add another screen for the time display that I VERY RARELY would refer to, and when I'm expecting to be able to temporarily hop outside of the Activity and find it available elsewhere.

Ideally the empty space in the top half of the control wheel could display the time Fingers crossed

  • Just to follow up on this...I had no HotKey combinations left that I can feasibly remember in the middle of a long run (I don't like the dual key press ones), but realised one of my HotKeys jumps to something I can access from Controls, so freed that up and set up a HotKey to Watch Face.

    Problem solved Ok hand

  • 900 dollar watch and you can't see the watch face while working out.  Straight up ridiculous.

Never mind the connections to android are beyond pedantic.  Oh it'll show someone is calling. Wow.

Unbelievable. Worst investment I've ever made.

  • Really, you should try and read the manual when you invest 900$ on something, otherwise the fault is only yours.

BTW, you go to system -> hotkeys -> choose "hold back" button  -> change its setting to Watchface.

Then, anytime you need to go back to the clock, you just long press the back button. They you press the start button to return to your current activity page. Done. Unbelievable.

Well done. At some point (I think?) the menu down button was defaulted to watch face (even before hot keys!?). Now, I have that as the programmed hot key for watch face. I do also have a data field with the time, but don't like going through data screens just to get it. I also found a nice workaround by having the map with multiple data points on perimeter -- one of which I choose to be time of day. It's tiny., but easily visible. ;) Cheers!

  • Another option is to disable the lap button if not needed. Then a short press on the right bottom button shows you the watch face and brings you back.
