Epix Pro is impossible to connect to my phone and it can't see my WIFI either

I cannot get my new Epix Pro to connect to my phone and it fails to find either of my WIFI networks - my neighbours do not show up either! Nothing! I can pair it my latop and use Garmin Express but that isnt ideal if I'm not home.

When trying to connect via bluetooth my watch throws up a QR code but the phone can't 'see' it. I have tried obvious BT troubleshooting. BT scanner apps cannot see it either..I have tried two phones, Android and iPhone with no luck, same error message on both.

WIFI did actually work ONCE when I first set it up with Gsrmin Express but for some reason it can no longer connect. I deleted the WIFI connection and tried to reinstate it. but as it can't find it now it again  (or any others) I am a bit stumped. I do not believe its user error as my other Garmin watches will see the  various WIFI points in the vicinity that this one cannot (usually I'd see my two and 3 or 4 from neighbours)

  • I am sorry there are issues. Everything you are experiencing strongly suggests your watch is non-functioning with hardware failures on arrival.

There are 2 things you can try:

    1) Fully update its software with Garmin Express and try Bluetooth pairing and Wi-Fi connection again

    2) Fully reset to defaults through your System > Reset menu.

If neither options resolves the issue, please return it back through the vendor you bought it from and let them know it has hardware failures to ensure they send it back to us. Thank you.

  • Thanks for the reply - it worked when the watch arrived  (had 11.28 firnware on arrival) when I sucessfully got WIFI to work one time only but it no longer works after update to 13.22. Is there a later firmware than 13.22?

WIFI version is 24.95 btw, its not reporting 0.0 or 255.255 which is often a surefire way to know its hardware

  • For your watch to have been fine on v11.28 at release but not on v13.22 software just released last week, your watch likely went sideways. My sincere apologies for the bad luck with it.

  • Strange mine arrived with i think it was 12.74.

  • I think mine must have been manufactured late 2022 as the bootup Copyright was 2022 rather than 2023 so I assume 11.xx was the software baseline at the time?

My 965 which was also a Day 1 purchase had very early fimware too

  • I have the regular Epix 2, but one thing I found when I first got it was that it will only pair with one device. For example my watch is paired with my phone, and because of that it won’t pair with my tablet…not unless I erase it from my phone first.

I say this because you mentioned you paired it with your lap top.  Try deleting it from your PC and start the install over again on the device you want it to recognize.  You might have to reset  to factory settings.

  • No luck, although personally I have never had the issue you report - Garmin Express usage has never prevented WIFI or phone connections for me.

  • If you've had it paired to your iPad you need to make sure it is removed from GCM on the iPad and also forgotten in Bluetooth settings on the iPad. I would also suggest shutting down the iPad completely before trying to pair with the iPhone. Given the watch is new there's probably nothing lost by completely resetting it from the Rest options in the settings. I'd suggest the nuclear option Delete Data and Reset Settings. Then, before starting the watch and before pairing with your iPhone, ensure the watch is forgotten in the Bluetooth settings.

If that doesn't work then you'll probably have to do as suggested and get it back to your retailer.

No iPads are involved here and as I can't pair it to my phone, Garmin Connect isn't really involved at this stage.

There is nothing to 'forget' really bluetooth wise.

I do think it has gone faulty, but it certainly wasn't out of the box.

  • Apologies for misreading laptop for iPad. Got confused because you said paired when I guess you mean connected. In which case if Bluetooth has not been involved to your laptop then perhaps just try and do a reset from the watch and start again fresh. If you have been trying to connect to your iPhone make sure the watch has not connected to Bluetooth on the phone before trying to pair again after the reset.
