Epix Pro ... combined forum? combined beta forum? combined firmware release?

Ok so my EPIX Pro arrives tomorrow and already I am thinking "where is my Alpha / Beta" ... kind of joking. But seriously: as regards both the support forum (here) and the Beta program, is Garmin's plan that EPIX Pro would use this existing Epix forum (and Fenix Pro the existing Fenix forum)? Same Q for the Beta releases and forums: will the Pro line piggy back / re-use the existing Beta forums (which I suppose implies the same Beta firmware and/or release cycle)?

I would think this works just like the MARQ (or Tactix or Quatix or Porsche etc) where the same firmware “version” also contains specific features which are only enabled on specific Garmin device SKUs…

I would expect the Pros to remained linked with non-Pros for both forum and SW. Similar to grouping the Instinct 2/2s with Instinct 2X/Crossover.

Especially since the intent is to bring all the new software features from the Pro over to the non-Pro. So the software should be pretty much the same between the models soon, other than the Pro-specific watchfaces.

Garmin has always put up a new product sub-forum at the exact same time as the product release, I've never seen them take days to do it; so the lack of a new sub-forum for Pro models tells me that most likely there won't be one.

Doesn't make much sense to me as Plus models (basically a "S" seres release in Apple speak) have their own sections of the forum.

Given that there’s no separate pro forum for the F6 I wouldn’t expect a separate one here. We’ll have to rely on people stating which watch they’re referring to.

considring that once the 3rd quarter update arrives there will be no sofware difference as such not overlly much reason to have a seperate section. Easy enough to tag pro and or state pro when discussing an issue.

As shipped, my Epix Pro came with firmware 12.74 and I believe there was never any 12.xx release for (non pro) Epix it just went from 11.xx right to 13.xx. Then soon after setup, my Epix Pro notified of a firmware update to 13.22 which is the at the exact same number as the 13.22 for (non pro) Epix and the What’s New page is exact same (obstacle course racing; wrist-based running dynamics; improved compass responsiveness) so I will conclude that Epix and Epix Pro are already on the “same” firmwares. And I’d expect this to continue going forward, probably starting in a few weeks with the next round of Alphas.

If they're on same firmware, does that mean we Epix 2 users have the software for Hill Score and Endurance Score already but a decision not to expose it to us (at this time) has been made?

Probably, yes. I'm guessing Garmin wants to do some additional testing/troubleshooting on the older hardware first before they turn it on for those models.

Most likely these new features will be available to beta testers within the next month, and to the general public within 3 months.
