Brand new Quatix 7 missing functions

Always on display, alerts and wrist gesture in Display settings have all been disabled from the factory. After I send watch back, do Garmin make any watches that have the Wrist Gesture and most of the advertised functions not disabled by the factory?

  • Tried messing with sleep times since forums say watch can’t cope with gps in different time zones and constantly crashes. Still locked out of most functions so that didn’t help.

  • You have changed your watch settings in your new Quatix 7 AMOLED watch and "Turned off" your Display.

    - Long hold your top left button until you see the shortcut icons around the edge of your display.

    - Highlight the Display icon (It looks like a watch) by using your middle left and bottom left buttons to move around your shortcuts.

    - Quick press your top right button to turn your Display ON again.

When your display is off, you will need to press any button to turn your display on again. It will then timeout based on your System > Display settings.

  • Thank you for the reply, sadly it's not this. I did a factory reset and now the watch won't sync with the app. I have deleted the app off my phone and reinstalled it multiple times but the watch is now stuck on the QR code screen and refuses to sync. I could try multiple resets but I doubt that'll change anything. I'll take it back to the shop I got it from and try to swap it for another one. I've only had it for 5 days and it's only worked for 1 of those. I had a Forerunner 305 before this that never let me down before the battery finally died. It's depressing how unreliable the Quatix 7 is, it's quite a step backwards from my 305.

And there isn't a manual online for the Quatix 7 so I'm still struggling to read anywhere if the wrist gesture function will ever work.

  • Thanks, It says in manual you can change screen settings and switch gesture on or off. On mine from the factory it was disabled. That's why I'm asking if there's another manual for watches without the functions they're supposed to have. Mine did only have of these back when it was working.

    Changing the Screen Settings

    1. Hold MENU.
    2. Select System > Display.
    3. Select an option:
      • Select During Activity.

      • Select General Use.

      • Select During Sleep.

    4. Select an option:
      • Select Always On Display to keep the watch face data visible and turn down the background. This option impacts the battery and display life (About the AMOLED Display).

      • Select Brightness to set the brightness level of the screen.

      • Select Alerts to turn on the screen for alerts.

      • Select Wrist Gesture to turn on the screen by raising and turning your arm to look at your wrist.

      • Select Timeout to set the length of time before the screen turns off.

  • those are the standard default settings we all have. So must admit I still do not understand your issue.

HAve you made sure that you are on the latest software version - don't just check the watch  - also plug it into the PC and check on Garmin Express - see the pinned thread about software version issues.

  • Given all of the issues described, only if nothing has changed after you performed the full reset to defaults, you will need to return your watch back to where you bought it and exchange it. If you are outside of the new purchase return period, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • This helped me with a new watch

it would be nice if I could change the settings on all screens rather than lock it out to just this one
