Renaming activities

Yes. Thats how it should be. The renaming takes only effect in the watch. The activity name/type stays still the same. So you can't take walking, rename it to biking and expect Garmin to show it as biking. It will stay walking. 

I suppose your example makes sense, although why offer the ability to rename it then. 

That's not a complained aimed at you though, in case it reads that way :( 

In my case I have 3 "outdoor run" activities. 

a. Outdoor

b. Race 1

c. Race 2

I use a for training. b and c for race. All the same activity, but with different configuration. 

That makes sense, that would allow different data screens etc. Seeing 'Padal' instead of Badminton is strange, that said it doesn't track anything other than HR and calories. 

Renaming is just the title, the activity type will always stay the same as the source you copied, currently if Gamin does not add an activity profile for it you can't use that activity type without adjusting it afterwards. 

You can write to Garmin that you want to be able to choose activity types freely, maybe one day they will allow it.

According to documentation only copies of Cardio  and Other will keep the name on connect. I think it is wrong, but it is by design.
