Epix Gen 2 Bluetooth disconnextion - Solution from Garmin support

I have just got the Epix Gen 2 Black Sapphire.

The Airpods Pro 2, or Bose, wireless headphones, keep disconnecting all the time.

I contacted Garmin support.

Their advice is to buy new headphone, as Airpods pro and Bose are not in their supported list.

So all in all, a 1,000$ watch that cannot use Airpods Pro nor Bose headphone.

Pretty impressive !

I have the same issue. Start a run or indoor workout and after 5 mins or so the sound stops but AirPods show that they are connected. Only way to get them working again is to disconnect and reconnect but then same issue repeats 5 mins or so later. Any help or solutions out there? Is it an Apple or garmin issue? Both AirPods and garmin epix gen 2 are less than a month old

I have Airpods Pro 2. For whatever reason, I have zero issues. Understandable that Garmin can't possibly test every pair of headphones out there and support them. Although, there are some popular brands/models they have clearly missed if they're saying Apple and Bose are not supported. Did they give you a link to Garmin's list of compatible headphones? I only found this Bluetooth Headphone Compatibility for Garmin Music Watches, which contains a link to just the APAC compatibility.

My latest Epix also has Bluetooth issues, but here on the other side with reconnecting to its paired phone when it’s in range again.
It sometimes stays completely not connected even if it is only some centimeters away after walking around at home.
I had already 3 Epix Devices with different software versions in the last months, which were swapped out by the support agent because of this behavior, and even the latest device with the latest software doesn’t resolve the problem.
So I really think there is a general Bluetooth issue with the device firmware, which isn’t showing up for everyone.

Unfortunately the support has no more possibilities to swap out a affected device until there are more people with these Bluetooth problems.

It shows that Garmin only supports Airpods, but not Pro, and also not the Bose noise canceling ones. Its pretty luddicrous if you ask me. The support team told me, feel free to change watch brand if you want. Really not pro for the Garmin customer support.

That is what I also found but this is for APAC (Asia-Pacific), and would only apply to those specific countries. I'm in the United States.

I bought epix 2 last June and been using airpod pro (1st gen) with it with zero problem.

Only time it disconnects is when airpod pro ran out of battery during my 30k+long runs

I remember when airpod pro 2 came out a lot were having issues.

Airpod pro v1 works perfect if want to get that instead (cheaper too )

That's your interpretation. but mine would be that they haven't specified specific models so will work with all. I've had no problems with my AirPods v1 and newer v3 now. Friends have also had no problems with their Pro versions.

They used to list a couple but noticet they don't anymore. Have never had any issues with Shokz.
