Proper tracking of ski lifts (rather than start/end point of all lifts taken)?

What is the correct setting forceing Garmin (Epix (Gen2)) to plot ski lifts properly on its maps?

Just returned from my recent ski trip and noticed that Garmin's ski lift tracking is ruining the map view completely - it fully neglects the ski lifts in its ski maps and draws a straight line from lift start point to end/highest point - hence, if you take *multiple* lifts, a straight line is plotted between the start and end point of all/multiple lifts that I took, rather than following the route of each ski lifts reaching my run/starting point... Your help is appreciated.

  • I think the watch is actually pausing the activity when you are going up, so the exact path you are taking is not recorded. If you look at the total time of the activity you'll see that it only shows the time you have been actually skiing. At least, it looks like that in the snowboard activity, I spent two hours out there and it recorded a 45 minute activity.

You could try recording your activity as backcountry ski or XC ski, maybe it would do what you want.

  • Or test to turn off Auto run in ski settings. Then you probably also loose counting of downhill runs and best downhill run metrics. With manual lapping you could at least build your own datascreen with lap metrics. Not tested myself, though.
