Turn off step counting

Hello, my watch counts steps in the car and just random hand movements are also recorded as steps. I suggest adding a feature to turn off step counting so that it can be set to a hotkey. I get into the car - turn off the count of steps, when I get out of the car, turn it back on.

  • Mine doesn't count steps in the car or bike neither.

  • I suggest adding an disable step counting feature, because on my watches counts steps in wehicle.

It already exists - on some watches there is the Driving activity profile, and when not available, use the Indoor Cycling activity. They do turn the steps counting off. At the end, stop and discard the activity, unless you want to keep it as a log of your drives. You could also use the standard outdoor Cycling, if you do not mind the increased battery consumption due to the GPS use. You would then have a log including the track of your drive.

  • I am for the simplicity of actions, why not assign a hotkey to turn off step counting when it is not needed? As soon as necessary, use the hotkeys again and turn on step counting. It's faster and easier

  • That's not available, but you can suggest it to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin. However, I see a problem in that people would forget turning it back on, and then would unnecessarily contact the Support complaining that their watch does not count steps. Hence I am not quite sure Garmin will be willing to add such feature. Starting an activity is quick and painless, and especially it is available now, so you can start using it immediately.

  • They had it on the vivoactive 4. Went for an upgrade to the instinct 3 solar., feature no longer an option.returned the watch after 2 days

What's the point of joining challenges and linking to my fitness pal to count calories when the watch gives you 2000 steps for a 4 hour drive in a truck

What's the point of joining challenges and linking to my fitness pal to monitor calories when a 4 hour truck journey gives you 2000 steps. Will had to look at other brands when the vivoactive finally gives up the ghost. Surely a simple software fix could bring the activity tracking option back
